2026 Festival Of walking itinerary

Doodles & Drawing Walk, 10am Saturday 12 September 2026
Another creative walk with our resident artist, Steve Cobbin. He'll lead a doodling and drawing walk in the countryside around Shepton Mallet. No previous experience necessary! Starting point: Market Cross, Shepton Mallet.

Long Ramble, 10.30am Sunday 13 September 2026
A spectacular mystery ramble, over mixed terrain. Walk duration approximately 8.5 miles. Some of the terrain on this walk could be challenging and we recommend wearing sturdy walking boots.

Pub Walk, 10am, Friday 11 September
Starting at the Village Hall, Croscombe, walking along the Mendip Way to Dinder before finishing at the George Inn where you can buy lunch if you wish. Distance: circa 4 miles. Duration: 3 hours.

History Walk, 1pm, Saturday 12 September 2026
For centuries the River Sheppey made Shepton Mallet prosperous. This walk will explore the river, the world-class industry it supported, the buildings and family stories, and the flooding challenges it poses today. Approximately 6 miles. Duration: about 3 hours.
